I am pretty excited about the news I am sharing with you. For the past couple of months, Temple Bar’s Meeting House Square in Dublin City has been having a little make over of sorts. Due to this, the weekly Temple Bar food markets were then spilled out all over Temple Bar creating a treasure trail of market stalls. But now, Meeting House Square is back and it’s more beautiful than ever.
The folks over at Temple Bar Cultural Trust (TBCT) have been keeping us updated via Twitter and Facebook with all of the news based around excavations and restructuring of the square. Finally, TBCT announced this week that they will be reopening Meeting House Square following the installation of the pretty nifty state of the art retractable canopy.
As of December 10th, Meeting House Square in Dublin City will welcome back, with open arms, the Temple Bar Food Market. If you want the best in fresh produce this Christmas, Temple Bar Food markets is the place to go. Not only that but they have announced extra trading hours for the Christmas Holidays. This is brilliant for us travelers who will be returning to the green isle in mid December
Some of the stalls that I will be popping into this Christmas…..
Jenny McNally and Dennis Healy will be back supplying their fresh, colourful fruit and veggies. Sheridan’s Cheesmonger can provide you with a wide selection of delicious cheeses for that extra special cheeseboard. One stall I am particularly excited about is Ed Hicks and sons. As of late, Ed’s Bacon Jam has been driving the Irish Foodies bonkers with glee. I have not tried any of it yet but I will surely be popping over to their stall to pick up a few jars. I have heard it’s amazing!! Christmas would not be Christmas without the big bird and the little piggy, so head over to J & V Rahara Farm Meats to pick up fresh turkey and ham. One of my favourite treats to indulge in at the Farmer’s Markets is Llewllyn’s spiced apple drink. Grab a cup of this and it will keep you nice and toasty whilst you tackle that Christmas shopping. I am a recent convert to oysters, so this Christmas I want to make sure I get to the guys at the Oyster Stall and indulge myself in a freshly shucked oyster or 12 😉
